Kwame was always in a hurry. When his supervisor said "move that pallet to bay 3," he would jump on the forklift and go.
One morning, he didn't do his checks. He left the load high up and took the corner fast, like he was driving his cousin's car.
The back end swung wide. The load swayed. The whole forklift wobbled on two wheels for a second that felt like a minute.
Nothing fell. But everyone stopped and looked.
The old operator, Joseph, walked over and said, "You drive it like a car. This one turns from the back. It turns sharper than you think, and when the load is up, it wants to fall."
Kwame lowered the forks to just above the ground. He took the next turn slow and wide.
He arrived 30 seconds later. But he arrived stable.
From that day, he started early โ checks, low load, slow turn.
