In the fictional kingdom of Nambara, every seven years, the people gather for the Rites of One Rhythm, a sacred celebration believed to awaken the River Nima and protect the kingdom from famine. But Amadi, a young boy whose feet never seem to follow the dance, fears he will disappoint everyone when he is chosen to begin the ceremony.When a hidden drum beneath the palace calls his name, Amadi discovers that a dangerous secret threatens the river, the kingdom, and the sacred rhythm that binds the people together.
