Foreword
Every long-lasting marriage rests on the same quiet discovery: my partner is not broken, they are simply different. Much of the pain couples bring into a counseling room is not caused by bad character but by unrecognized difference — different needs, different instincts under stress, different ideas of what love looks like on an ordinary Tuesday.
This manual gathers together the themes commonly taught in Christian marriage counseling circles and expands them into a full working guide — with explanations, real-life style case studies, self-assessment tools, a glossary, and a twelve-session plan a pastor or mentor can follow from courtship through the wedding day and into the years that follow. It also addresses two subjects that surface in almost every real counseling relationship but are often left out of shorter guides: money, and extended family.
It is written for three audiences at once:
• The individual reading alone, trying to understand a spouse or a partner they love but sometimes struggle to reach.
• The couple working through it together, session by session.
• The pastor, counselor, or mentor guiding others through premarital or marital counseling.
